Tijs Verwest, mejor conocido como DJ Tiesto, nació en Breda, Holanda; el 17 de enero de 1969. Comenzó tocando discos a la corta edad de 8 años. Empezó su carrera en Breda, demostrando su arte en una disco local y más adelante continuó su carrera como Dj en un reconocido club llamado "The Spock”. DJ Tiesto inicia su camino hacia el éxito con su house brutal, puro y lleno de vida propia al grabar "Magik cd-series", produciendo sus propias mezclas con su sello disquero "Black Hole".
Firmó con un agente especializado en la escena del house y fue así como se fue haciendo cada vez mas conocido en el ambiente nocturno.
En el año de 1999 se presentó en el famoso festival holandés " Inner City", en donde literalmente fascinó a sus espectadores e hizo que fuera una experiencia inolvidable para otros. Hay quienes aseguran que fue la mejor presentación de DJ Tiesto, quien plasmó ahí mismo su sudor y sus lágrimas de emoción al observar a sus fans en un viaje fantástico por los suburbios del maravilloso trance al que la mezcla de sus manos y la música los transportaba.
Tiesto se ha convertido en uno de los djs de trance favoritos en el Reino Unido, por su versatilidad para mezclar y producir la su propia música.
Tiesto viaja varias veces al mes a Ibiza invitado por Cream, Gatecrasher y otros clubs, y es considerado como uno de los mejores Djs de trance del momento, y el número 1 según The DJ List
Actualmente DJ Tiesto es junto a Ferry Corsten uno de los dos componentes de Gouryella. Han realizado grandes éxitos como "Gouryella" y "Walhalla", para el sello Tsunami, discos que han perdurado entre los favoritos a nivel mundial.
